Effects should serve the puzzle
Smouldering colours, small match bursts and occasional smoke give Dcode its visual identity. They should help you recognise the game without making the controls feel slow or hiding a tile face.
The effects selector lets you choose full, reduced or disabled effects. Your legal moves and tile identities stay the same. Browser reduced-motion preferences are respected as well.
Choose comfort over spectacle
If animation distracts you, reduce it. If a phone feels warm or struggles to keep up, turn effects off and compare the experience. More visual activity is not a better puzzle by itself.
The current design limits continuous tile animation and makes matched pairs disappear immediately. A small burst can finish after the board is already ready for the next move. Try playing one practice session with fewer effects, then decide which setting lets you read the stack most comfortably. Set up the board on mobile.
