Pause and Restart belong together
Pause stops the visible active timer and covers the board. Restart removes the cover and resumes the same game. New game is a separate control that replaces the board.
The opaque cover prevents a paused player from studying the hidden tiles. Advertising space may appear within the cover, but the board stays hidden even when no advertisement is available.
Understand the two clocks
Practice is about your own pace. Competitive results use server elapsed time, including pauses, while the visible timer measures active play. A long break can therefore affect a ranked result even though the active clock is stopped.
Browser storage can retain a practice board on the same device. Clearing site data or changing browsers can remove that save. When a saved board returns, use Restart to continue. Take a break when you need one; a clear head is more useful than a hurried match. Play another board.
